Our first Workaway! We stayed with Jane and Jon at St Olaves House in Murchington and got busy re-pointing walls, clearing paths, laying gravel, weeding, pruning, gate building, painting and decorating … busy but really enjoyable. We were joined by Woofer Philippe and old-school traveller Nils – really enjoyed their company. Our hosts really looked after us providing fantastic accommodation and amazing meals. Jon had recently published a book and achieved some fame while we were there (The Times, Huff Post, Radio 5 Live, The Observer etc.) . We also managed to cycle to Lydford Gorge, meet up with our ski buddies Marghitta and Nick and also the Stanbury crew at the Okehampton Show. Cycling to and from Chagford was challenging – very steep and the lanes were very narrow for the van (painted the floor while we were there). We got a 5-star review from Jon and Jane and look forward to returning next spring.
