Arrived Thursday 15 Aug (Lola’s A-level results day) and parked the van where “we definitely won’t be sleeping in it” – nice and quiet and flat! Perfect. Too late to start our shift (thanks to shifting a massive sofa out of our house) so Fay nominated us for all breakfast shifts – again, perfect! Busy as hell (especially toastie corner!). Tom (Lola’s boyfriend) immediately entered into bus legend by washing up a hub cap! Bonus – met up with our friends Paul & Diane. The festival setting is amazing but this year’s line-up wasn’t quite as good as previous years. We enjoyed Pictish Trail, A Certain Ratio, Pigsx7, Villagers, The LimiƱanas and Eels but didn’t think much of The Growlers, Car Seat Headrest, Father John Misty, Idles (appreciate what they do but just don’t enjoy their music) and Four Tet. Absolute standout was Richard Thompson (didn’t see that one coming!) – amazing acoustic set. My birthday was celebrated by Fay cutting Freya’s tent up to make bunting (it was drying Fay, it wasn’t being thrown away!), all the bus (incl customers) singing “happy birthday”, Jake wishing me happy birthday hundreds of times and Danny cooking an amazing roast. Legendary. And the Green Man itself was amazing! Good times.
